Animated Video Types

  • 2D Animation

One of the most popular styles of animation around today in the world of marketing. Cost effective and irresistibly stylish, 2D Animation is a great option for brands looking to tell their story in a unique way and stand out from their competition. Limited only by the imagination of our artists (and your brief), 2D Animation is super versatile and is sure to leave a lasting impact on your audience.

  • 3D Animation

Take a step into the third dimension with 3D Animation. A little more expensive than 2d Animation but worth the investment if you’re going for a something more premium and realistic. Great for product animations and architectural walk throughs, 3d Animation offers a level of realism and polish that simply can’t be achieved via any other style.

  • Motion Graphics

A popular style of animation that really took off in the last couple of decades with international studios like Buck and Giant Ant leading the way. While traditional 2d and 3d Animation focuses more on characters and environments to tell it’s story, Motion Graphics takes a more abstract approach by using graphics and typography as the main driving force to tell the videos message.

  • Character Animation

Bring a little character and personality to your next animation by choosing Character Animation for your next animated video. If you have a story to tell, simply nothing beats Character Animation. It’s ability to breathe life, emotion and personality into stories is just unmatched by any other style of animation or even video production in general.

  • Explainer Videos

Got some explaining to do? Well you might just want to consider an Explainer Video for your next brand video. Most audiences are turned off by advertising. Do I need to explain why? Anyway, why not try taking a different approach and simply explain your product or service without the salesy vibe. You’ll be pleasantly surprised what happens next.

  • Social Animations

Hey followers, let’s engage! Social animations are a great option for keeping in touch with your audience on a regular basis with entertaining or informative content relevant to your industry. They also are very affordable so give it a try for yourself and watch your audience and engagement grow!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do animation studios charge in Australia?

The cost of animation studio services in Australia varies depending on the complexity of the project, the style of animation, and the experience of the studio. However, as a general rule of thumb, you can expect to pay between $7,000 and $50,000 per minute for a high-quality animated video.

For a relatively simple 2D animation with limited attention to detail, you may be able to find an animation studio that will charge you as little as $7,000 per minute. However, if you are looking for a more premium product with more complex character animation, 3D animation and more attention to detail, you can expect to pay upwards of $50,000 per minute.

Most clients find that the sweet spot for animation studio services in Australia is in the $20,000 to $25,000 per minute range. This will give you a high-quality animated video without breaking the bank.

Here is a breakdown of the different factors that can affect the cost of animation studio services in Australia:

  • Complexity of the project: The more complex your project is, the more expensive it will be to produce. This is because complex projects require more time and resources to complete.
  • Style of animation: 2D animation is generally less expensive than 3D animation. This is because 2D animation is less complex and time-consuming to produce.
  • Experience of the studio: More experienced studios will typically charge more for their services. However, they will also be able to produce a higher-quality product.

It is important to note that the above prices are just estimates. The actual cost of your project will vary depending on your specific needs and requirements. It is always best to get quotes from multiple studios before making a decision.

What's included in the cost for an animated video production?

We offer a full suite of animation production services, from concept development to final delivery. This means that we can take care of every aspect of your project, from brainstorming ideas to creating the finished video.

We understand that some clients may want to contribute to the production process themselves, such as writing the script or producing the audio. This is perfectly fine, and we will adjust our costs accordingly.

If you choose to have us handle everything, our animation production process includes the following steps:

  • Concept development: We will work with you to develop a strong concept for your video. This includes brainstorming ideas, defining the goals of the video, and creating a brief for the rest of the production team.
  • Script writing: We will write a clear and concise script for your video. This script will serve as a blueprint for the entire production process.
  • Storyboard: We will create a storyboard for your video. This is a visual representation of the script, and it helps us to plan out the timing, pacing, and composition of each shot.
  • Style development: We will work with you to develop a unique visual style for your video. This includes creating concept art, character designs, and colour palettes.
  • Design: We will design all of the elements of your video, including the characters, backgrounds, and props.
  • Animation: We will animate your video using a variety of techniques, including 2D animation, 3D animation, and motion graphics.
  • Voice over: We will cast and record voice actors for your video.
  • Music: We will compose or select music for your video.
  • Sound effects: We will add sound effects to your video to bring it to life.
  • Mixing: We will mix the audio of your video to ensure that all of the elements are balanced and sound their best.

In addition to the above services, we also offer three rounds of revisions and a final video file in full high definition resolution in both uncompressed (MOV) and web-ready compressed (MP4) format.

We understand that every project is different, so we offer a customised approach to animation production. We will work with you to create a video that meets your specific needs and budget.

What's the process like working with Motionlab Animation Studios?

First, we get to know your project inside and out. We want to understand your specific goals, your target audience, and the key message you want to communicate. We also need to know what tone and style you’re looking for in your video.

Once we have a good understanding of your project, we’ll start writing the script. This is where we’ll craft the words that will tell your story and engage your viewers. We’ll make sure to include all of your key messaging and deliver it in a way that’s both informative and entertaining.

Next, we’ll create a rough storyboard. This is a visual representation of the script, and it helps us to plan out the timing, pacing, and composition of each shot. We’ll work with you to refine the storyboard until it’s perfect.

Once the storyboard is approved, we’ll start developing the original style treatment for your video. This includes creating concept art, character designs, and colour palettes. We’ll work with you to create a style that is both unique and visually appealing.

Once the style is finalised, we’ll start creating the illustration frames and required assets. This includes drawing all of the characters, graphics, and scenes. We’ll also create any other assets that are needed for the video.

Now comes the fun part! We’ll combine the storyboard, artwork, and voiceover to bring your video to life. We’ll carefully choreograph the movement of all of the elements to create a cohesive and engaging animated video.

Once the animation is complete, we’ll record the voiceover and add music and sound effects.

Finally, we’ll deliver your video file in a high-quality MOV and/or MP4 format.

We understand that every animation project is different, so we work closely with our clients to create videos that meet their specific needs and budget. We’re passionate about animation, and we love helping our clients to tell their stories in a visually engaging way.

How long does it take for Motionlab Animation Studios to make a video?

The amount of time it takes to make an animated video varies depending on a number of factors, including the length of the video, the complexity of the animation style, and the size and experience of the production team. However, as a general rule of thumb, most animated video productions take between 6 and 8 weeks to complete.

This timeline allows for enough time to complete all of the necessary steps involved in the production process, including:

  • Pre-production: This stage includes developing the concept for the video, writing the script, and creating storyboards.
  • Production: This is where the actual animation work is done, as well as any voiceover recording and sound design.
  • Post-production: This stage involves editing the video, adding any special effects, and finalising the audio mix.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. For example, a simple animated video with a straightforward concept may be able to be produced in as little as 3-4 weeks. On the other hand, a more complex video with a lot of characters and environments may take several months to produce.

If you have an important deadline that needs to be hit, tell us and we’ll let you know if it’s possible or not. In some instances, we can just increase our production team to get more done in less time.
